SWM Kickers Pre-Tryout Player ID Session Details & Procedures

The SWM Kickers pre tryout Player ID (identification) session is an event where soccer players showcase their skills to coaches for potential selection into a team or program. During the Player ID evaluation process, coaches assess a player’s level technically, tactically, physically, and mentally as well as observe their performance in 1v1, rondo, & small sided game situations.

The parents are encouraged to ask general club questions at the Player ID session check-in tent and to ask specific team / player questions to the coach prior to or after the Player ID session.

The Player ID session is similar to a tryout, but smaller, shorter, and more informal. It gives players the opportunity to be seen by our coaches and experience what it would be like to be a member of an SWM SC team. Parents, especially new player parents, are allowed to observe Player ID sessions to give themselves a perspective of how their player fits in with the level of the other players.

Returning players should also attend the ID session to help the coaches get an idea of what team to place returning and the new players on. Returning players can be made team offers during the pre-tryout Player ID session week.

The Pre-Tryout Player ID session is an important step for the team coach player selection and for the player / parent information gathering.
